Welcome!

The Many Flavours of Music is a brand new radio program on Sydney Radio 2ser 107.3FM.  It is brought to you by the Department of Music, Media, Communication and Cultural Studies at Macquarie University and is a weekly program airing on Friday nights from 9pm to 10.30pm (Sydney time). You can also hear it streamed online through the 2ser website (click on On Air).

The program will showcase an ecletic mix of music from all around the world presented by a range of passionate music practitioners, academics and music lovers. The focus is to showcase music of the world that is less often heard and sometimes difficult to access in Australia. Over the weeks and months ahead listeners will be able to hear music from Latin America to Indonesia, from Jazz to Hindustani and everything in between, with a special emphasis on improvisation.

The first program aired on 3 September 2010 and was presented by Dr Adrian McNeil and Bobby Singh - two of Australia's finest Indian classical musicians. They presented a collection of varied music from South Asia including the Sufi style from Pakistan, the Hindustani Khyal in its purest form and some more recent fusion music that blends Western rock music with South Indian classical music.

Happy listening!
